The Basics

I was born to Barbara Berlo McCreery (now Vander Sluis) and Richard McCreery, Sr. in Elyria, Ohio in 1971. In June 1990, I graduated from Vermilion High School in Vermilion, Ohio. Seven months later, (January 1991) I enlisted in the United States Navy and shipped off to Navy Recruit Training Center, Orlando, Florida for Basic Military Training.

What I do

I am a Personnel Specialist First Class (PS1) in the United States Navy. I am currently assigned to the Navy Recruiting District in Columbus, Ohio. Some of my previous duty stations include, Personnel Support Activity Detachment, London, England, Naval Special Warfare Unit TWO in Stuttgart, Germany, the USS JOHN C. STENNIS (CVN-74), the USS KITTY HAWK (CV-63), and the USS GUAM (LPH-9) to name a few. I have served on active duty for more than 19 years. I am due to transfer to the Fleet Reserve on 31 March 2012 after 20 years of active service

My Hobbies

Since you are visiting my homepage then you must know I enjoy working with computers. I also like to read books, mostly science fiction and adventure, but I am starting to get into some crime novels. Star Wars and Star Trek are my favorites. I also enjoy reading Tom Clancy, John Grisham and Robert B. Parker novels and I recently started reading Kathy Reichs and Richard Castle novels as well. Woodworking is another passion of mine that I hope to sink my teeth into once I settle down and buy my own home.

My goals in life

The first thing is survive the remaining time I have left in the Navy. As I mentioned above, I will be retiring around 31 March 2012. I am currently enrolled in classes with Park University and Excelsior College. In December 2008 I earned an Associate of Science in Management from Park University. I am currently working towards Bachelors of Science in Management/Computer Information Systems as well as a Bachelor of Science, Computer Science-Network and Security, both from Park Univeristy as well as a Bachelor in Professional Studies, Business and Management from Excelsior College. I anticipate completion of my degree from Excelsior in April 2012 and hope to have my requirements met for both my degrees from Park by Summer 2013.
